MY GRANDMAAS( AMMA AND DIDI)
This is the photo of my two Grandmaas Komola Gupta and Dipali Sengupta.Since my birth I have been guided by them. All the basics of education they have taught is unforgettable and the ethical training by them is so practical till date. They were like my Second Mother. All Grandmother's tale and mythological stories I have heard from their mouth. Story of Sadhak Bamakhyapa, Loknath Baba,Bhakta prahlad, Ramayana and Mahabharata and many others.
My granny Komola Gupta used to teach me Mathematics, English Grammar, Spoken English,Dance,Art, Music etc.Granny Dipali Sengupta was her younger sister and used to live with us being unmarried.I called her Didi and Komola Gupta as Amma.
Didi taught me Bengali and English spellings on a black slate with chalk. The very basic Books like Barna porichoy, Adarsha Lipi,Haashi khushi she unfolded before me.
The small poem in English was first taught by her to me... "If jodi Is hoy,But kintu Not noy,What maane ki? Tumi jodi bole dile Aami bolbo ki?" Thus I started my journey with English language. She used to read many grand literatures and explained me all the stories in brief.
Dipali Sengupta was a special trainer to me in the matter of self respect and to be very clear she taught me how to keep a safe distance from harmful people specially notorious persons or men. She always guarded me safely till my young hood and was very cautious in every aspect of my life.
She pampered my father a lot too.
Komola Gupta was a multi talented lady who was a central government service holder in Telephone Bhavan Dalhousie and retired in the post of Supervisor. Working with foreigners she was very fluent in English since a very tender age. Being very hardworking and struggling she invested her life to bring up her three children and all her brothers and sisters , as her parent died very early. She taught me how to draw pictures from rough scribble on floor. Her knowledge on Ayurveda and Art and craft and Literature and Maths was unparalleled. She was a very reserved lady and lived a life of renunciation and devotion to duty.
Dipali Sengupta taught many proverbs which are very useful in reality. One thing she taught I always keep in mind that while you are in wave just jump with short waves and keep your head down while the wave is very high. This lesson is so much applicable in practical life now I realise. They passed away in 2007 and 2016 respectively but left behind the huge lesson of life and made me grateful forever.I feel so so lucky to have Grandmothers like them.
