COLOURING ON CLOTH (TECHNIQUE)

Colouring on cloth with fabric acrylic colour is very interesting and useful job. Pidilite colours are available in market for this kind of art .

Take a piece of cotton cloth white for practice. Draw something on it with wooden pencil first. You can use Eraser if needed. Then load your water colour brush with colour from the bottle and mix it on a pallet. Then spread the colour on cloth. The cloth must be dry and a very little amount of water should be used. Too much use of water will cause spreading of the colour through out the cloth.

Treat the cloth as your canvas. Any kind of painting can be done on it. Practicing on small pieces of cloth will increase your ability to try different themes and techniques eventually.

Once the skill is acquired, you can paint on your Saree, kurti, T shirt , scarfs, Handkerchief, even on jeans materials. First on cotton and then pidilite colours can be used on silk , Georgette, Tasar and other different materials of clothing. You can wash the garment whenever needed. The pidilite fabric colour is waterproof. It will not be washed out with detergent or water.

Unlike paper , more colours are needed to paint on cloth, it's almost like acrylic painting on canvas. Be cautious about using water. A very less quantity of water should be used. After colouring is done ,let the cloth dry and after drying, iron the cloth from the opposite side. It strengthens the colour coating finally.

The colour looks bright and shiny and Lasts for long time. Try this technique on your favourite garments or to gift someone special.
