MY SISTER AND FRIEND JHIMLI
She is no more on the Earth. But her presence is felt by me every day. In 2019 December she attempted suicide due to her personal problem which was too overwhelming for her . She left behind the childhood memories for me.
Living in the same house, we were neighbour, she was to close to me since birth. We became sisters without any blood connection. The name jhimli was given by my grandmother Dipali Sengupta. Her original name was Nabanita Dutta, nickname was Tatun called by her mother.
She was 3 and half years younger than me and called me RANI DIDI. I felt better every time whenever got her company. She was good in mathematics and studied zoology at honours level from laketown girls college. Then she plunged into the course of earning money. She started doing beautician course and physiology training very early.
And got accomplished in recovering bed ridden patients by pressure point message and physiotherapy. Bridal and party make up was her speciality, though she was well equipped in hair cutting too.
She was doing good in her career and was successful; even she attended workshops at Delhi on the concerned subjects. But her married life was getting damaged day by day. The mental peace was shattered for years. she struggled hard to pacify her tension and establish a good professional relationship with her clients. She treated me well when I was suffering from bone decay and nerval disease in 2006 - 2009.
Being a lower middle class family girl she was in want of patronage, which she couldn't receive from her husband. Her son was growing up,at that time she left Earth for a peaceful shelter elsewhere.
I recall our childhood days as the happiest memories of life. We used to enjoy TV shows, played together on our Roof, Discussed the Love relationship between Lily and Vikraal, the Fun of Gabroo, shared beautiful relationship through out life.
She accompanied me in every step I took.
I can never forget those days when we were watching Ssshhhh koi hai on Star Plus on every Friday night 10 pm in 2002-2003. At that time something special happened to us which made our bonding more strong. We used to share every details of happy and sad moments with each other whenever we could manage time for us.
She loved and respected my family members as her own. At the Tithi of Ashtami she used to come to my mother to wear sharee for Pushpanjali at Durga Puja. She loved my father singing melodious songs. And she loved my pet parrot with all honesty.
At the time of Holi and Diwali she was my constant supporter doing all the mischief.
Even she collected My favourite star photographs from magazines to make me happy.
Once we decided to teach his son the morals from Ssshhhh koi hai Vikraal series. I created an ABC book on the topic and gifted it to her son. She was elated with joy for the matter.Every moment of life I spent happily with her and never quarreled.
She used to highlight the techniques of body massage and taught me so many scientific things which plays a big part now in my life.
She respected me as her own didi holding my hands every time.
She was upset and shedded tears when we shifted from paikpara to Salt Lake Government Quarter.
But Alas , I couldn't tell her about the arrangement Of my marriage. She passed away so early. She had a huge friend circle but still she preferred my company in her life as something very special,no to be denied.
She followed all my steps to make herself more accurate in study and all basic trainings.
Her son liked koi hai poem and other things we taught him. On my birthday she was always the special guest and the vice-versa.
Those days are unforgettable and can never be brought back.
